| Dr. Donna Campbell Calls on Lloyd Doggett to Stand Up for Patient Rights - Monday, March 08, 2010
‘This is the wrong prescription for fixing our health care system,’ says GOP Nominee
Republican congressional candidate Dr. Donna Campbell (CD 25, Tx) is calling on currently incumbent liberal Lloyd Doggett to vote against the health care bill written behind closed doors by House and Senate Democrats.
“This is the wrong prescription for fixing our health care system,” Dr. Campbell said. “It fails to address the high costs facing American families and will lead to a lower quality of care. Doctors and hospitals will be asked to spend more time adhering to nearly 3,000 pages of rules and regulations written by Washington bureaucrats, leaving less time to focus on patients. Meanwhile, insurance premiums will continue to rise as consumers are faced with fewer choices to compete for our business.”
Dr. Campbell noted costs can be reined in by passing common-sense measures like tort reform, encouraging tax-free health savings accounts, and allowing consumers to buy insurance across state lines. Unfortunately, she adds, Democrats have not included any of these ideas in their legislation. Instead, they have doubled down on the status quo with more government interference and regulation. Their bill dictates unnecessary coverage, raises taxes, punishes innovation, and pushes restrictive price controls on insurers that will run many out of business. The bill also raids Medicare to the tune of some half a trillion dollars, cutting benefits for seniors when Medicare is already on a path to complete insolvency.
Dr. Campbell wants to make sure Texans aren’t faced with the same problems that plague Massachusetts, where a similar universal health care bill passed four years ago. Massachusetts residents now pay the highest insurance premiums in the nation. And those who can’t afford the rates and don’t qualify for government aid are still left without coverage with the added burden of paying a huge penalty for remaining uninsured. These are often middle class families who have been squeezed out of the coverage they used to be able to afford thanks to government mandates and restrictions.
“Texans are sick of lifelong politicians in Washington telling us how to live our lives,” Dr. Campbell said. “The last thing we need is another bureaucrat standing between patients and doctors. This vote is more than just about health care. It’s about returning power to the people. We elect our representatives to serve us, not to make us serve them. That’s why I’m calling on Lloyd Doggett to take my advice as a doctor, as well as that of his constituents, and say ‘no’ to Nancy Pelosi’s unaffordable government-run health care.”

| Dr. Donna Wins GOP Nomination! - Wednesday, March 03, 2010
Dr. Donna Campbell Wins GOP
Nomination for Congressional Bid
Campaign Builds Momentum on
More than Two-to-One Primary Victory
Dr. Donna Campbell yesterday (3/2) earned the Republican nomination for U.S. Congressional District 25 in convincing and compelling fashion; earning nearly 70 percent of the total votes cast, and handily winning each of the district’s counties, including that of her primary opponent.
“George Morovich ran a good, positive campaign, and I thank him, his family and his campaign workers for investing so much time and effort in a cause George, I and all fiscal and social conservatives believe in,” Dr. Campbell said to a room full of well-wishers in Austin last night (3/2).
Campbell noted in her election-night remarks that, while her name was on the ballot, “thousands of people helped me earn the trust of an overwhelming majority of voters to stand as the GOP nominee.”
Worried about inadvertently leaving names unspoken in trying to thank all involved, Campbell did call out her husband, Stan, “for being in my corner from Day One on this campaign,” and also gave thanks to God, “for making a run for congress not just a dream but a rewarding and humbling reality.”
While election night was an evening of celebration; today (3/3) began an even greater challenge for Dr. Campbell—removing the isolated and entrenched Democrat incumbent, Lloyd Doggett, from Washington.
“It’s time for a doctor in the House!” said Dr. Campbell. “Those now in power in congress are determined to entitle the unentitled—a rising socialist tide that can only be turned back by those who believe in, who understand, and who will fight to restore a fiscally-responsible government bound firm by the words of the Constitution rather than the interpretations of judicial activism.”
Dr. Campbell noted converting imperialist isolation to engaged representation for U.S. House District 25 is a collective effort. “Working together we can—we will—break the ever-tightening stranglehold of Washington, and we will put this nation on a brighter course!” Dr. Campbell said. “America can again be a nation where the individual rights and powers of the 50 states are not overshadowed by a ballooning, over-reaching federal bureaucracy.”

| Positive Attitude, Positive Differences, Positive Results - Monday, February 22, 2010
I believe I am the candidate who can beat Lloyd Doggett in the general election, and I’m working every day to convince primary voters that I can place the 25th Congressional District in GOP hands.
As many people considering which candidate to invest their primary vote in are looking for differences between me and Mr. Morovich, I offer the following contrasts:
Polar Opposites on Education, Marriage and Defense
On the issues, I differ greatly with Mr. Morovich on at least three important fronts, as documented in the Liberty Institute’s voters’ guide.
Defense
I strongly believe U.S. troops should remain deployed in the theater they are engaged in until the military objective of the mission (peacekeeping, humanitarian aide, infusing the rule of law, fighting terrorists, etc.) is secured as determined by the commanders on the scene.
However, apparently regardless of the proximity to attaining the mission of enabling a stable, safe and peaceful citizenry ruled by law, Mr. Morovich indicates on the voters’ guide survey that he strongly favors the immediate withdrawal of troops in Iraq.
School Choice
I endorse empowering parents with the ability to choose the best environment for their children to learn, and I strongly favor the utilization of vouchers to shift this decision-making from government bureaucrats to mothers and fathers.
Seemingly satisfied with a “government knows what’s best” mentality, Mr. Morovich indicates on the voters’ guide survey that he strongly opposes the freedom-to-choose mechanism that vouchers enable.
Marriage as that Between a Man and a Woman
Based upon personal beliefs, fundamental thinking and biblical teachings, I strongly favor defining marriage as being between a man and a woman in the U.S. Constitution.
Apparently at peace watching courts overturn such definitions in state statutes, Mr. Morovich indicates on the voters’ guide survey that he strongly opposes placing this legislating-from-the-bench protection in our federal constitution.
Solid Endorsements
I am the one candidate in this primary race endorsed by the Texas Alliance for Life and the Central Texas Republican Assembly.
Why Try Again What Hasn’t Worked Before?
A primary vote is an investment for the general election. This is my inaugural bid for the privilege of representing Texans of the 25th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Mr. Morovich ran a campaign for the seat in 2008, and is, of course, trying again this year. I believe my chances of winning the trust of a majority of the voters in the 25th District this November are very good, while prior voting results simply do not support the same outlook for Mr. Morovich, who earned 30.45 percent of the vote in November of 2008.
I Want the Job, and I Have a Plan to Earn It!
I have the interest and ability to bring people together and make tomorrow a better day. Just as I’ve been building a coalition of supporters in the campaign for, I would build a coalition of like-minded lawmakers in Washington to ensure the Constitution and its unalienable rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness are upheld.
And I have an actual plan for winning in November that includes a trip to Washington this spring to meet with various congressmen and women, including those belonging to the National Republican Congressional Committee; and bridge building with the communities of East Austin.
I ask for your vote in the primary election, and hope to be earning your support in the general election.

| Update from Texas Alliance for Life-Endorsed Donna Campbell on Errant NARAL Webpage - Wednesday, February 17, 2010
As outlined below, many folks had brought to my attention a webpage from the website of the New York chapter of NARAL that some were misconstruing as an endorsement, largely due to the website's inadvertent exclusion of George Morovich from the online elected official roster and candidate guide.
The NARAL NY web page in question is this one:
http://prochoiceny.capwiz.com/election/guide/tx
(Scroll to CD 25)
...and now includes both GOP candidates for Texas CD 25. This page was not and is not an endorsement of any person, nor is any page on this third-party online roster/directory.

| Right to Life Candidate Donna Campbell on a misconstrued "endorsement" - Friday, February 12, 2010
Many folks have brought to my attention a curious webpage from the website of the New York chapter of NARAL that some are misconstruing as an endorsement.
As always known by me and my supporters, and as confirmed by a direct call from my campaign staff to the group earlier this week, this was, is and will not ever be an endorsement.
Recently, I earned the endorsement of the Texas Alliance for Life, a backing I greatly appreciate and one that affirms my stance that life is a sacred gift from God to be embraced, not a choice to be made.
To elaborate on, and clear any confusion relating to the New York chapter of NARAL, please read on.....
The NARAL NY web page in question is this one:
http://prochoiceny.capwiz.com/election/candidate/id/155077
The page is simply a search return from a roster of elected officials and candidates - an online legislative lookup, if you will.
The word "endorsement" does not appear on this page, nor anywhere else with relation to me, nor anywhere else on this election guide for any incumbents of challengers in any other race in the nation.
To look at this closer, start here:
http://prochoiceny.capwiz.com/election/home/
Then click the map on Texas, then go to the 25th CD.
You then get a page showing the incumbent (for now...) and listing me - this is the page where George Morovich should also be listed -- and, by rights, the two Libertarian candidates for CD 25. In any event, clicking my name on this page brings you to the page garnering so much attention.
There are plenty of other missing candidates on this guide - for instance, Stephen Schoppe is not listed as a GOP primary candidate for CD 21, though all GOP candidates appear in others, such as CD 11.
The directory is a third-party service ("Capwiz") that NARAL has contacted to correct the omission of Mr. Morovich -- with the DC snows, this likely will not happen until Monday.
To reiterate, NARAL New Yoirk affirmed that the online election guide is not to be considered an endorsement of anyone, anywhere.
Please note that many, many other groups use the not-ready-for-prime-time Capwiz directory. For example, take a look at the guide as posted on the obviously pro-life New York Catholic Conference: http://nyscatholicconference.capwiz.com/election/guide/tx and note the TX 25th CD page is identical to the NARAL search return.

| Momentum to and Through March 2 Builds! - Thursday, February 11, 2010
Congressional Bid Earns Backing of the
Central Texas Republican Assembly and the Texas Alliance for Life
Donna Campbell has earned two influential endorsements that are adding momentum in her drive to win the GOP primary for U.S. Congressional District 25. The Texas Alliance for Life (TAL) officially endorsed Campbell last week; and earlier this week (2/9) Campbell earned the endorsement of the Central Texas Republican Assembly (CTRA).
“I’m thankful to the members of both groups for recognizing me as the candidate best-suited to break up the ‘good ol’ boys club’ in Washington so life is better for us here in Central Texas and across the nation,” Campbell said.
In April of 2009, Campbell, an emergency room doctor and staunch Republican, began actively campaigning for the privilege of representing central Texans in the U.S. House of Representatives after deciding that the she wanted to do more than just talk about the precarious slide the nation has been taking over the past two years.
“These are dangerous times in America,” Dr. Campbell said. “Those now in power in Congress are chipping away at our Constitution; reducing freedoms and increasing taxes in the process. Dependence on government programs is being encouraged making a socialized America a closer reality with each precious passing day. Quite simply, I want to play an active role in reversing this havoc-wreaking tide.”
Campbell’s bid for Congress is growing stronger each day as the March 2 primary election fast approaches on the campaign trail. A win in the primaries would allow Dr. Campbell to unseat incumbent Congressman Lloyd Doggett.
“Healthcare continues to be a dominant topic for Americans,” Campbell said. “Mr. Doggett has made clear his backing of nationalizing healthcare and eliminating personal choices. As a doctor, I have the firsthand experience to be a rational, market-based voice at the table.”
Campbell noted that it’s crucial for the House of Representatives to have members that realize they are in office to in fact represent the interests of the people in their districts.
“An overwhelming majority of Central Texans are concerned about where this country is going and are determined to make things right again,” Campbell said. “Working together we can stop the bleeding in Washington and restore this great nation of ours."

Dr. Donna Campbell has both a B.S. and M.S. in nursing and is medical director for two emergency medicine rooms. In April of this year, she announced her candidacy for Congress, vowing to help set the nation back on a course in line with our Constitution if elected. “America is in the emergency room and it’s time to stop the bleeding,” noted Campbell.

| Donna Earns TAL, CTRA Endorsements! - Wednesday, February 10, 2010Donna in the last week has earned the endorsement of the Texas Alliance for Life.
Visit TAL online at: http://www.texasallianceforlife.org/
And on 2/9, Donna earned the endorsement of the Central Texas Republican Assembly.
The CTRA's nominating committee recommended that the full board endorse her after she bowled over the nominating committee in an interview Donna gave a few weeks ago.
While the CTRA voting members could have come up with a non-endorsement by failing to get a two-thirds majority to a candidate, such was not the case for Donna, who earned the required 2/3 vote (and possibly much more...balloting was secret) and now has the distinction of being endorsed by an influential and informed GOP group.
